Fall is almost here, and what better way to celebrate than with a crochet project that captures the cozy essence of the season? This Pumpkin Spice Latte is the perfect make for your next market prep or just to add a little autumn joy to your own home. We are working in rows rather than continuous rounds for this one, which gives it that nice, structured coffee cup look. Grab your favorite chenille yarn, and let's get hooking!
MATERIALS (for chunky latte)
- 1 Skein Loops & Threads Demi Purl Yarn (Cinnamon Stick)
- 1 Skein Loops & Threads Demi Purl Yarn (Mojave Desert)
- A Few Feet of Sweet Snuggles Lite (White)
- 12" Green Bulky Weight Yarn
- 6mm Crochet Hook
- Polyfil
- Yarn Needle
- Stitch Marker
(For smaller, worsted weight (4) latte, I used I Love This Cotton Yarn and 4.5mm hook).
Note: Pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms
Abbreviations
- mc – magic circle
- BLO - back loop only
- hdc - half double crochet
- ch – chain
- chs - chains
- st - stitch
- sts – stitches
- sc – single crochet
- ss – slip stitch
- dc - double crochet
- inc – increase
- dec - decrease
- 3rd loop - this is the loop behind the back loop
- (#) at end of each round represents how many stitches should be in round
CUP
Start using orange yarn and 6mm hook.
NOTE: *This is worked in rows; not continuous rounds like most amigurumi.*
- Row 1: mc, ch 2, 12 dc in circle, ss to beginning ch (12)
- Row 2: ch 1, (working in back loop + 3rd loop), [inc, sc in 5] x2, ss to beginning ch (14)
- Row 3: ch 1, (work in both loops like normal), ch 1, [inc, sc in 6] x2, ss to beginning ch (16)
- Row 4: ch 1, sc in every st around, ss to beginning ch (16)
- Row 5: *change to tan* ch 1, BLO **loosely** ss in every st around, ss to beginning ch (16)

Row 6: ch 1, BLO, sc in every st around, ss to beginning ch (16)
- I cut a small circle of plastic canvas and placed in the bottom of the cup to help shape.
- Stuff with polyfil as you go!
- Row 7: ch 1, (work in both loops like normal) [inc, sc in 7] x2, ss to beginning ch (18)
- Row 8: ch 1, [inc, sc in 8] x2, ss to beginning ch (20)
- Row 9: ch 1, sc in every st around, ss to beginning ch (20)
- Row 10: *change to orange* ch 1, BLO **loosely** ss in every st around, ss to beginning ch (20)
- Row 11: ch 1, BLO, sc in every st around, ss to beginning ch (20)

Row 12: ch 1, (work in both loops like normal) sc in every st around, ss to beginning ch (20)
- Cut a 6" tail and tuck it in
LID
Using white yarn and 6mm hook
- Row 1: mc, ch 2, 12 dc in circle, ss to beginning ch (12)
- Row 2: ch 2, inc in every st around, ss to beginning ch (24)

Row 3: ch 2, (working in back loop + 3rd loop), hdc in every st, ss beginning ch (24)
- Cut a 16" tail and use needle to sew the top onto the top of the cup.
PUMPKIN
- Cut 2 ft. strand of orange yarn and grab needle. Insert into bottom of cup and come out between rows 6-7, pull yarn so there’s at least 4" hanging out, then insert needle 3 sts to the left, then come back through the last st to make a straight horizontal line.
- Repeat this once, then move one row up and repeat two more times. Continue until you’ve made a circular shape, then move the end tail back to first st where you entered. Tie the two tails together and tuck into the bottom of the cup.
- Now cut an 8" strand of green yarn. Using same concept as above, add one small straight line at the top of the pumpkin.

What yarn works best for this Pumpkin Spice Latte crochet pattern?
It depends what size you'd like it to be. You can use bulky weight (6) yarn and a 6mm hook for a chunky latte (I used Loops and Threads Demi Purl), or you can use lighter medium weight (4) yarn and a 4.5mm hook (try I Love This Cotton Yarn). I also love Parfait Chunky from Premier Yarns!
