Simple & Free Pig Crochet Pattern: Perfect for Amigurumi Beginners

If you’ve been looking for a cute and beginner-friendly amigurumi pig pattern that you can whip up in no time, you’re in the right place. This little piggy isn’t just adorable — it’s quick. In fact, you can make it in one hour or less from start to finish. 


With soft, squishy super bulky yarn like Bernat Blanket Yarn or Sweet Snuggles Lite, you’ll create a plush pig that’s irresistibly huggable. 

Materials You’ll Need

  • 1 skein Super Bulky Yarn (Bernat Blanket Yarn in Fuchsia and Pink Dust or Sweet Snuggles Lite in Carmine Rose)
  • 1 ft black worsted weight yarn
  • 1 ft white worsted weight yarn 
  • 16mm safety eyes
  • Polyfil stuffing
  • 1 yarn needle
  • 8mm crochet hook
  • Stitch marker

Abbreviations

  • mc – magic circle
  • ch – chain
  • dc - double crochet
  • tc - triple crochet
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • sts – stitches
  • sc – single crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • inc – increase 
  • dec – decrease 
  • (#) at end of each round represents how many stitches should be in that round

Pig Crochet Pattern

BODY & FEET
Using super bulky yarn and 8mm crochet hook

  • Round 1: mc with 6 sc (6)
  • Round 2: inc in every st around (12)
  • Round 3: inc in every st around (24)
  • Round 4-5: sc in every st around (24)
  • Round 6: sc in 3, BOBBLE (w/5 loops on hook), sc in 4, BOBBLE (w/5 loops on hook), sc in 15 (24)
    • snap eyes in between rounds 2-3 with 1 st showing in between
    • stuff with polyfil as you go!
  • Rounds 7-9: sc in every st around (24)
  • Round 10: sc in 4, BOBBLE (w/5 loops on hook), sc in 4, BOBBLE (w/5 loops on hook), sc in 14 (24)
  • Round 11: sc in every st around (24)
  • Round 12: [dec, sc in next 2 sts] repeat around (18)
  • Round 13: [dec, sc in next st] repeat around (12)
  • Round 14: dec around (6)
    • cut a 12" tail, use needle to sew hole closed and tuck into body.

EARS
Using super bulky yarn and 8mm crochet hook

  • Insert your hook between rounds 5-6 on the right side of the pig (about 5 sts above the front bobble stitch leg).
  • RIGHT EAR: [sc, hdc, 2 tc in next st, ch 2, ss in next st]
    • cut a 6" tail and weave it both ends, tuck into body
  • LEFT EAR: move 2 sts to the left, insert hook into body then [ch 2, 2 tc in next st, hdc, sc]
    • cut a 6" tail and weave it both ends, tuck into body

SNOUT
Using super bulky yarn and 8mm crochet hook

  • Round 1: mc with 6 sc (6)
  • Round 2: inc in every st around (12)
  • Round 3: BLO, sc in every st around (12)
    • cut a 12" tail and sew onto the body just beneath the eyes, stuff lightly with polyfil as you sew it on

TAIL
Using super bulky yarn and 8mm crochet hook

  • Insert your hook on the back center of the body between rounds 12-13
  • ch 3, 3 sc in first ch from hook, 3 sc in next ch, then ss into body, cut a 6" tail and tuck into the body

EYE DETAILS

White Liner

  • cut 12" of white worsted weight yarn and grab needle, insert the needle into the right side of the head and come out at the top right corner of the right eye, then insert the needle into the bottom center of the eye so the yarn is hugging the right side of the eye, repeat on the left eye so the yarn is hugging the left side of the left eye
  • move the end tail to the same stitch as the beginning tail where you first entered, then tie the two ends together and tuck into the head

Eye Brows

  • cut 12" of black worsted weight yarn and grab needle, insert needle into the right side of the head and come out one round above the right eye, aligned with the right side of the right eye, then insert needle two stitches to the left so it makes a slight diagonal line, repeat above the left eye
  • move the end tail to the same stitch as the beginning tail where you first entered, then tie the two ends together and tuck into the head
