Have a Question?
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this pattern easy and suitable for beginners?
Yes! This is an easy crochet plushie pattern designed with simple stitches. If you can make a single crochet and know how to increase and decrease, then you can make this cute plushie. If you're new to these stitches, check out our Beginner's Guide to Amigurumi.
Can I use chunky yarn to make a jumbo plushie?
Absolutely. Most of my patterns are designed with chunky yarn like Bernat Blanket or
Parfait Chunky, but if you want to make a jumbo crochet plushie, simply swap out chunky yarn for a jumbo weight like Loops & Threads Sweet Snuggles and a larger hook like 10mm or 11mm.
What is the best yarn for making this plushie?
Super bulky chenille yarn is the best choice for this plushie, though it works with any weight. Some of my favorites include Loops & Threads Demi Purl and Bernat Blanket Yarn, to create a soft, huggable feel. These yarns are great for beginners making amigurumi. If you want to make a smaller animal, simply use a lighter worsted weight yarn and a 4.5 mm or 5.0 mm hook. The pattern works either way.
What size safety eyes should I use for this pattern?
Most of my patterns use 16mm or 20mm safety eyes. If you are making this for a child under the age of 3, I suggest embroidering the eyes with black yarn for extra safety. I offer a video tutorial here to walk you through embroidering from start to finish.
Is this a free crochet plushie pattern PDF?
While I offer several Free Patterns, this specific premium pattern is a high-quality PDF download. It is professionally formatted, ad-free, and printer-friendly to make your crafting experience seamless.
